For Singaporeans and PRs: Course Online Admission Process

Process No 1: Register Interest through Lithan website

To inquire and/or register for the course, kindly send an email to info@lithan.com or register directly at Lithan Academy’s minisite. Our Sales Executive will contact you within 48hrs after receiving your email.
 

Process No 2: Course Application

Please provide the following documents via e-mail if you are interested in a course after the course consultation.

• A copy of your highest academic certificate and transcript
• Updated CV

 

Note:

• An additional document may be requested to support your application.
• You might ask to take the course entrance test if applicable.

 

Process No 3: Academic and Employability Evaluation (This process does not apply to short courses)

All application will be assessed by our Academic team in reference to the course requirements you are interested to take. For those who will take the Category-A “Train and Place” funded courses, our Talent Management will conduct a required screening as part of the employability evaluation.

 

Process No 4: Conduct Pre-course Counselling

You will also go through a Pre Course counselling by our Sales Executive either by a phone call or face-to-face, once you confirm enrolling in the course.

• e-Photographs (against a white background)
• Financial documents showing at least of SGD 30,000
• 1 set of eForm V16 and V36 duly completed and signed by the applicant at the relevant sections
• Work experience certificate (if applicable)

Applicants are required to submit the documents at least six weeks before course commencement date.

Applicants are not required to be present in Singapore while their applications are being considered by the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority, Singapore (ICA). No extension of stay will be granted while the application is under processing.

If Immigration and Checkpoint Authority, Singapore (ICA) approves the application, a Channels Consultant will send an In-principle letter to the respective candidate.

Policies & Procedures
Course Transfer or Withdrawal Policy

Learning Associate assists students in the Transfer or Withdrawal request and the application is subjected to Lithan Academy’s approval. The time frame for assessing and replying to any request for transfer/withdrawal will not be more than 4 weeks.

For students below the age of 18, Lithan Academy must seek approval from the parents/guardians before approving the application.

Request for Course Withdrawal should be submitted to Lithan Academy(hereinafter referred as “Lithan”) in filling up the Online Course Transfer & Withdrawal Form and verbal request shall not be entertained.

“Transfer” means a student changes from one course to another course but remains as a student of Lithan. For an approved transfer request, the original student contract must be terminated, and a new contract must be signed.

If a student transfers from an existing course to a new course within Lithan Academy, the tuition fees is transferable to the new module/unit (refer to Refund Table below).

A transfer to another school is regarded as withdrawal from Lithan Academy.

If the fee for the transferred course is higher or lower, the student shall be refunded the surplus within seven 7 working days of application date or the student needs to top-up additional amount respectively.

“Withdrawal” means the student contract is terminated and the student is no longer a student of Lithan Academy.

Status of student’s pass for the international student (where applicable) will be terminated after withdrawing from Lithan Academy.

Issuing past attendance records to students who are enrolling in another course in another school.


Withdrawal for Cause.

Student shall be notified to withdraw from the course within 3 working days should the following circumstances occur subject to Force Majeure.
(i)    Lithan Academy fails, for any reason, to commence the course on the commencement date.
(ii)   Lithan Academy fails, for any reason, to complete the course by the completion date
(iii)  Lithan Academy terminates the course, for any reason, prior to course commencement date.
(iv)   Lithan Academy terminates the course, for any reason, prior to course completion date.
(v)   The student’s Pass application is rejected by immigration and checkpoint authority (ICA)
(vi)   Breach of its obligation under the student contract.


Withdrawal without Cause

“Withdrawal without cause” refers to a student withdrawal due to reasons other than those set out in “Withdrawal for Cause”.


Transfer Procedures:
Step 1: Student completes the Online Course Transfer/Withdrawal form
Step 2: Lithan Academy conducts an exit interview and processes the application
Step 3: Calculate outstanding fees payable or refund (where applicable)
Step 4: Process with payment receipt or refund of the above amount
Step 5: Cancel FPS for the student from the course (where applicable)
Step 6: Follow the procedure as new application/ enrolment to the new course


Withdrawal Procedures:
Step 1: Student completes the Online Course Transfer/Withdrawal form
Step 2: Lithan Academy conducts an exit interview and processes the application
Step 3: Inform the student about the outcome
Step 4: Process Refund (refer to the refund policy where applicable)
Step 5: Student’s Pass holders, Student to fill up Student’s Pass Cancellation Form and hand in the Student’s Pass card to Lithan Academy (applied to International Student only)
Step 6: Lithan Academy cancels the student pass via SOLARPLUS system (ICA) (applied to International Student only)
Step 7: Lithan Academy cancels FPS Insurance via Lonpac System (applied to International & FPS legible Student only)

Deferment Policy

Lithan allows maximum of 3 months of deferment and maximum of 2 deferments within the course duration. If the course fees have been realized for the period, it will be postponed for future date and appropriate Certificate of Insurance (COI) is issued for Fee Protection Scheme (FPS). Learners must clear all outstanding course fees before applying for deferment.

 

Deferments are subjected to Lithan Academy's approval. If the course deferment request is accepted, Lithan will notify and there will be a chargeable deferment fee of SGD150 per deferment.

 

Learners will be notified of the outcome of any deferment requests within 3 working days of submission of all relevant documents.

 

SkillsFuture Singapore Courses

In general, no deferment is allowed.  However, Lithan will review each request as case by case basis. For SkillsFuture Singapore funded courses, the Lithan Academy asseses each deferment request on a case by case basis.

 

External Degree Programmes & Courses with Pearson certifications

Deferments are subjected to Lithan Academy's and Pearson's approvals. If the course deferment request is accepted, Lithan will notify and there will be a chargeable deferment fee of SGD150 per deferment.

 

External Degree Programmes & Courses with partnered Universities

Deferments are subjected to Lithan Academy's and partnered Universities' approvals. If the course deferment request is accepted, Lithan will notify and there will be a chargeable deferment fee of SGD150 per deferment.

Refund Policy

Lithan Academy (hereinafter referred as “Lithan”) notifies the Student within three (3) working days upon knowledge of any of the following:

(i)   It does not commence the Course on the Course Commencement Date;
(ii)  It terminates the Course before the Course Commencement Date;
(iii) It does not complete the Course by the Course Completion Date;
(iv) It terminates the Course before the Course Completion Date;
(v)  It has not ensured that the Student meets the course entry or matriculation requirement as set by the organisation stated in Schedule A within any stipulated timeline set by CPE; or
(vi) The Student’s Pass application is rejected by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

The Student should be informed in writing of alternative study arrangements (if any), and be entitled to a refund of the entire Course Fees and Miscellaneous Fees which are already paid, should the Student decide to withdraw, within seven (7) working days of the above notice.


Refund for Withdrawal Due to Other Reasons:

If the Student withdraws from the Course for any reason other than those stated in Clause 2.1, Lithan Academy will, within seven (7) working days of receiving the Student’s written notice of withdrawal, refund to the student an amount based on the refund table stated in the Schedule D (as below table) of the Standard Student Contract.

The following circumstances shall be applied.

  • The student shall be charged for all modules commenced

  • Processing Fee shall not be refunded
  • Refund will be paid in Singapore Dollars by cheque or interbank transfer addressed to student


Refund During Cooling-Off Period:

Lithan Academy provides the student with a cooling-off period of seven (7) working days after the date that the Contract has been signed by both parties. Lithan Academy refunds 100% full course fee paid if the Student submits a written notice of withdrawal to Lithan Academy within the cooling-off period, regardless of whether the Student has started the course or not. Bank Charges will not be deducted.

Should the student be paying using Post-Secondary Education Account or SkillsFuture Credit, refunds will be paid back to MOE or SSG. For Company Sponsored students, refunds will be paid back to the company account.

Student is required to fill up the request of refund form and submit to the Learning Associate. The Learning Associate will process and notifies the student once the cheque is ready for collection.

Feedback:
Lithan Academy values feedback from students for the improvement of processes and services. Student feedback may be undertaken via info@lithan.com or feedback@lithan.com or any channel e.g. student survey, email etc.

Response time of complaint and feedback:


Acknowledgement Reply: Within 24 hrs of the complaint date
Official Reply: Within 7 working days of the complaint date
Resolution Period: Within 21 working days


Complaints:

Complaints may be lodged formally through the Learning Management Team. If the issue(s) cannot be resolved, the matter shall be escalated to the Chief Operating Officer, if necessary. Replies, written and/or verbal, shall be recorded and sent to the complainant for a formal closure of the issue(s).


Dispute Resolution:

If all channel of complaints resolution fail, a third party mediation and arbitration will be recommended:

Stage 1: Appeal against outcomes from formal grievance and complaint process

Stage 2: Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC)
If the settlement between the student and the education centre is reached at the mediation stage, a settlement agreement would be drawn up and endorsed by the respective parties, and the dispute is resolved.

Stage 3: Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb)
If the parties fail to reach a settlement through mediation, the student may escalate to arbitration for a resolution of their dispute.


Appeal of Academic Marks:

Students may make an informal query on the assessment result or contact their Faculty to provide a detailed breakdown of marks. For further clarification, he/she should contact Lithan Academy with a written application.

All appeal outcomes are approved by the Academic and Examination Board. The decision of the Academic and Examination Board is final. Appeal of Academic Marks procedure is available here.

This is a Lithan Academy E-content, student self-assessment and online communications platform. Student will be able to perform self-pace learning & communicate with their Learning Facilitators for collaborative learning on EDX. Students also can attend Webinar's sessions of their class from everywhere.

Lithan Academy provides free access to premium Linkedin Learning accounts, where students will be able to attend online classes for continued self-learning. There are over 5,000 courses and personalized recommendations, students can discover, complete, and track courses related to their field and interests.

Fee Protection Scheme

Lithan Academy has adopted FPS to provide protection for all fees paid by students. We have chosen an insurance scheme to provide fee protection and appointed Lonpac Insurance Bhd. as our FPS Provider. Refer to FPS Insurance Certificate

About Fee Protection Insurance scheme:

  • The insurance premium will be borne by the student.
  • Lithan Academy protects the course fees paid by each student by purchasing insurance within the month from the date of receipt of fees.
  • The insurance coverage shall commence from the fee payment date till the next payment due date or the course end date, whichever is earlier.
  • The student is notified of the insurance purchase. Lithan Academy shall retain a copy of the student's Certificate of Insurance (COI).

Medical Insurance
Medical Insurance

Medical Coverage is optional for all students in Private Education Institutes (PEI) to be covered by medical insurance with a minimal coverage of S$20,000, at least B2 ward in a government and restructured hospital. 24 hours coverage in Singapore and overseas (if student is involved in school-related activities).

Lithan is in an agreement with Liberty Insurance to provide medical insurance coverage for our international students and local students.  A Certificate of Medical Insurance is available for students to view here and acquaint themselves with.

The Medical Insurance Claim form can be obtained from your Learning Associate.

Student Pass

How to Apply

International Students are required to apply for a student pass if they wish to study full time in Singapore.

Applicants are required to submit the following documents to Lithan Academy.

Student Visa Application Form:

  • 1 set of eForm V16 and V36 duly completed and signed by the applicant at the relevant sections
  • 2 e-Photographs (against a white background)
  • Photocopy of the passport bearing personal particulars (photocopy)
  • Birth certificate (certified by notary, translated to English)


Other documents required:

  • Transcripts and certificates (certified by notary, translated to English)
  • Photocopy of documentary proof of financial ability (bank statement/fixed deposit accounts/saving accounts)
  • Work experience certificate (where applicable)


Applicants are required to submit the documents at least six weeks before course commencement date.
