Process No 5: Student Pass Application (This process applies only to International Students who wish to study full-time in Singapore)
The following documents are needed for the processing of the Student Pass: Student Visa Application:
  • 1 set of eForm V16 and V36 duly completed and signed by the applicant at the relevant sections
  • Passport size e-Photograph (against a white background)
  • Photocopy of the passport bearing personal particulars
  • Birth certificate (certified by notary, translated to English)
Other documents required:
  • Transcripts and certificates (certified by notary, translated to English)
  • Documentary proof of financial ability (bank statement/fixed deposit accounts/saving accounts)
  • Work experience certificate (where applicable)
Applicants are required to submit the documents at least six weeks before course commencement date. Applicants are not required to be present in Singapore while their applications are being considered by the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority, Singapore (ICA). No extension of stay will be granted while the application is under processing. If Immigration and Checkpoint Authority, Singapore (ICA) approves the application, a Sales Admin will send a copy of the In-Principle approval letter to the respective candidate.

Learning Associate should assist learner in the Transfer or Withdrawal request. The transfer/withdrawal is subjected to school’s approval. The time frame for assessing and replying to any request for transfer/withdrawal will not be more than 4 weeks.

For learners below the age of 18 or are company sponsored, LITHAN ACADEMY must seek approval from the parents/guardians/sponsor before approving the withdrawal application.

Request for Course Transfer or Withdrawal should be submitted to school in writing via a completed Course Transfer & Withdrawal Form. Verbal request shall not be entertained.

Course Transfer
“Transfer” means a learner changes from one course to another course but remains as a learner of school. For an approved transfer request, the original Student Contract must be terminated and a new contract must be signed.
  • If a learner transfers from an existing course to a new course within school, the tuition fees are transferable to the new module/unit (refer to Refund Table below).
  • A transfer to another school is regarded as withdrawal from Lithan Academy.
  • If the fee for the transferred course is higher or lower, the learner shall be refunded the surplus within seven 7 working days of application date or the learner will need to top-up the additional amount respectively.
Transfer Procedures
  • Step 1 : Learner notifies Lithan Academy of intention for Course Transfer.
  • Step 2 : Lithan Academy will conduct an exit interview and process the application.
  • Step 3 : Calculate outstanding fees payable or refund (if applicable).
  • Step 4 : Request for Learner to confirm transfer application in writing.
  • Step 5 : Process with payment receipt or refund of the above amount.
  • Step 6 : Cancel Student Contract and FPS of the learner for the terminated course (if applicable).
  • Step 7 : Follow procedure as new application/enrolment to the new course.
Course Withdrawal
    “Withdrawal” means the Student Contract is terminated and the learner is no longer a learner of school.
  • Status of Student’s Pass for international learner (where applicable) will be terminated after withdrawing from the school.
  • Past attendance records will be issued to learners who are enrolling for another course in another school.
Withdrawal for Cause
    Learner shall be notified within 3 working days should the following circumstances occur subject to Force Majeure.
  • School fails, for any reason, to commence the course on the commencement date.
  • School fails, for any reason, to complete the course by the completion date.
  • School terminates the course, for any reason, prior to course commencement date.
  • School terminates the course, for any reason, prior to course completion date.
  • The Student’s Pass application is rejected by immigration and checkpoint authority (ICA).
  • Breach of its obligation under the Student Contract.
Withdrawal without Cause

“Withdrawal without cause” refers to a learner’s withdrawal due to reasons other than those set out in “Withdrawal for Cause”.

Withdrawal Procedures:
  • Step 1 : Learner notifies Lithan Academy of intention for Course Withdrawal.
  • Step 2 : Lithan Academy will conduct an exit interview and process the application.
  • Step 3 : Calculate outstanding fees payable or refund (if applicable).
  • Step 4 : Request for Learner to confirm withdrawal application in writing.
  • Step 5 : Inform the learner of the outcome.
  • Step 6 : Process with payment receipt or refund. Please refer to the refund policy.
  • Step 7 : Cancel Student Contract and FPS of the learner for the terminated course (if applicable).
  • Step 8 : Cancel the Student Pass via ICA SOLARPLUS system (applies to international learners only)

Lithan allows maximum of 3 months of deferment and maximum of 2 deferments within the course duration. If the course fees have been realized for the period, it will be postponed to a future date and an appropriate Certificate of Insurance (COI) is issued for Fee Protection Scheme (FPS). Learners must clear all outstanding course fees before applying for deferment.

Deferments are subjected to Lithan Academy’s approval. If the course deferment request is accepted, Lithan will notify you and there will be a chargeable deferment fee. Please refer to Student Contract for the deferment fee.

Learners will be notified of the outcome of any deferment requests not more than 4 weeks of submission of all relevant documents.

For international learners, Student’s Pass (STP) needs to be cancelled in such cases. Learners are required to contact the school 2 months before the term commencement to reapply the STP.

SkillsFuture Singapore Courses

In general, no deferment is allowed for SkillsFuture Singapore funded courses. However, Lithan will review each request on a case-by-case basis.

External Degree Programmes & Courses with Pearson certifications

Deferments are subjected to Lithan Academy’s and Pearson’s approvals. If the course deferment request is accepted, Lithan will notify the Learner and there will be a chargeable deferment fee. Please refer to Student Contract for the deferment fee.

External Degree Programmes & Courses with partnered Universities

Deferments are subjected to Lithan Academy’s and partnered Universities’ approvals. If the course deferment request is accepted, Lithan will notify the Learner and there will be a chargeable deferment fee. Please refer to Student Contract for the deferment fee.

The refund for paid course fees is applicable based on Lithan Academy’s Student Contract.

50% before, but not more than [14] days before the Course Commencement Date
0% On or after the Course Commencement Date
Note: Learners enrolled in modular courses are entitled to a refund based on the unconsumed module.
Refund for Withdrawal due to Non-Delivery of Course
    Lithan Academy will notify the learners within three (3) working days upon knowledge of any of the following:
  • It does not commence the Course on the Course Commencement Date;
  • It terminates the Course before the Course Commencement Date;
  • It does not complete the Course by the Course Completion Date;
  • It terminates the Course before the Course Completion Date;
  • It has not ensured that the learner meets the course entry or matriculation requirement as set by the organisation stated in Schedule A within any stipulated timeline set by CPE; or
  • The Student’s Pass application is rejected by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
The learner should be informed in writing of alternative study arrangements (if any), and be entitled to a refund of the entire Course Fees and Miscellaneous Fees which are already paid, should the learner decide to withdraw, within seven (7) working days of the above notice.
Refund for Withdrawal Due to Other Reasons:

If the learner withdraws from the Course for any reason other than those stated in Student Contract Clause 2.1, LITHAN ACADEMY will, within seven (7) working days of receiving the learner’s written notice of withdrawal, refund to the learner an amount based on the refund table stated in the Schedule D of the Standard Student Contract.

    The following circumstances shall be applied.
  • The learner shall be charged for all modules commenced
  • Discounts/Rebates entitlement shall be forfeited
  • Processing Fee shall not be refunded
  • Refund will be paid in Singapore Dollars to learner, his sponsor, PSEA or SFC whichever is applicable
Refund During Cooling-Off Period:

LITHAN ACADEMY will provide the learner with a cooling-off period of seven (7) working days after the date that the Contract has been signed by both parties. If the learner submits a written notice of withdrawal to the LITHAN ACADEMY within the cooling-off period, regardless of whether the learner has started the course or not, LITHAN ACADEMY will refund 100% of course fees paid back to learner.

Should the learner be paying using Post-Secondary Education Account or SkillsFuture Credit, refund will be paid back to MOE or SSG. For Company-Sponsored learner, refund will be paid back to the company account.

The learner is required to confirm the request for a refund form and submit to the Learning Associate. The Learning Associate will process the refund and notify the learner once the cheque is ready for collection.

Feedback: Lithan Academy is committed to providing learners with an education of the highest possible quality. However, at times, learners may experience issues or have concerns which require clarification and redress.
Feedback may be undertaken via: Response time of complaint and feedback:
  • Acknowledgement Reply : Within 24 hours of the complaint date
  • Official Reply : Within 7 working days of the complaint date
  • Resolution Period : Within 21 working days
If all channel of complaints resolution fail, a third-party mediation and arbitration will be recommended:
Stage 1: Investigation Panel (Minimum 2 members)

The members comprise of the Chief Operating Officer and Business Unit Head Concerned. Written response of outcome will be sent to the complainant within 30 working days.

Stage 2: Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC) If the settlement between the learner and the education centre is reached at the mediation stage, a settlement agreement will be drawn up and endorsed by the respective parties, and the dispute is resolved.

Stage 3: Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb) If the parties fail to reach a settlement through mediation, the learner may escalate to arbitration for a resolution of their dispute.

EDX

This is a Lithan Academy E-content, learner self-assessment and online communications platform. Learners will be able to perform self-pace learning & communicate with their Learning Facilitators for collaborative learning on EDX. Learners also can attend Webinar’s sessions of their class from everywhere.

Lithan Academy provides free access to premium Linkedin Learning accounts, where learners will be able to attend online classes for continued self-learning. There are over 5,000 courses and personalized recommendations, learners can discover, complete, and track courses related to their field and interests.

  • Arrange counselling and support assistance for learners who experience emotional and personal difficulties during the duration of studies.
  • Application, renewal and cancellation of learner pass (for international learners studying in Singapore).

  • Assist learners in the enrolment to Lithan Academy partner university.

Lithan Academy has adopted FPS to provide protection for all fees paid by students. We have chosen an insurance scheme to provide fee protection and appointed Lonpac Insurance Bhd. as our FPS Provider. Refer to FPS Insurance Certificate.
About Fee Protection Insurance scheme:

The insurance premium will be borne by the student.

Lithan Academy protects the course fees paid by each student by purchasing insurance within the month of fees receipt. The insurance coverage shall commence from the fee payment date till the next payment due date or the course end date, whichever is earlier.

The student is notified of the insurance purchase. Lithan Academy shall retain a copy of the student’s Certificate of Insurance (COI).

Lithan Academy has appointed Liberty Insurance as the medical insurance partner. Learners need to pay an annual premium for the following benefits. Please refer to Student Contract for the premium amount.
    Coverage for medical insurance includes:
  • Annual limit not less than S$20,000 per learner
  • At least B2 ward (in Singapore government and restructured hospital)
  • 24 hours coverage in Singapore and overseas (if learner is related to school related activities)
The above Medical insurance coverage is not compulsory and available only to Learners who are Singapore residents.

A Certificate of Medical Insurance is available for students to view here and acquaint themselves with.

The Medical Insurance Claim form can be obtained from your Learning Associate.

How to ApplyInternational Students are required to apply for a student pass if they wish to study full time in Singapore.

Applicants are required to submit the following documents to Lithan Academy.

Student Visa Application:
  • 1 set of eForm V16 and V36 duly completed and signed by the applicant at the relevant sections
  • Passport size e-Photograph (against a white background)
  • Photocopy of the passport bearing personal particulars
  • Birth certificate (certified by notary, translated to English)
Other documents required:
  • Transcripts and certificates (certified by notary, translated to English)
  • Documentary proof of financial ability (bank statement/fixed deposit accounts/saving accounts)
  • Work experience certificate (where applicable)
Applicants are required to submit the documents at least six weeks before course commencement date.

Applicants are not required to be present in Singapore while their applications are being considered by Immigrations and Checkpoint Authority, Singapore (ICA). No extension of stay will be granted while the application is under processing.

Singapore has efficient and effective system to provide guidance to people who live in Singapore on matters related to their daily lives. List of legislations and contents are published in the website: https://sso.agc.gov.sg/. Learners are encouraged to visit the site and be aware of the legislation that is relevant to their activities.

In particular, we recommend that learners have a working knowledge of the requirements of the following Acts:
