Lithan Spearheads the Development of Technopreneurs in Myanmar

Singapore & Yangon, November 30, 2015 – Lithan, an education group based in Singapore, is spearheading the development of high-tech entrepreneurs in Myanmar. It is participating in the hit reality TV series "Startup", which airs on leading regional news network Channel News Asia. Participating startups in the show are selected from Yangon, Jakarta, and Singapore through rigorous bootcamps. Finalists then go through a series of challenges and get introduced to potential clients and partners. Qualifiers move on to the next stages of the competition. The winner is determined through a final pitch to a panel of judges, who is then offered seed funding of up to S$500,000.

Mr. Leslie Loh, an educator, investor, entrepreneur and also the chairman of Lithan, is serving as one of the 3 judges in Season 3 of the show. The Yangon bootcamp was held at Lithan University College's new campus. Season 2's winner was Min Zeya Phyo, who grew up in Myanmar before moving to Singapore. Min Zeya Phyo founded Code2LAB, a restaurant management platform provider.

"We expect Myanmar to grow spectacularly as it aims catch up with the rest of ASEAN economies. Myanmar's telecommunications infrastructure will also be up to par to support the fast growing economy. The time is ripe for the development of high-tech entrepreneurs from Myanmar, who will be instrumental in the country's growth." says Mr. Leslie Loh.

"Lithan aims to provide the critical training, mentorship and network that Myanmar startups need to grow fast. We will also be accelerating several of the more promising startups." Mr. Loh further expounds.

Lithan University College, Lithan's subsidiary in Yangon, will be conducting startup bootcamps, digital marketing bootcamps, and other programmes aimed at developing the skills of budding entrepreneurs. Courses will be conducted on campus, virtual, or blended; allowing students to participate in flipped classrooms done locally and straight from Singapore.
