Program Overview

This course aims at providing career centric qualifications to IT professionals who would like to embark on managing Microsoft platforms. This course leads the industry certification in areas of Project management, Service management and server management. This integrated pathway provides students with fantastic opportunity to assume roles as System Administrator, Server Administrator and IT Project Manager.

  • Program Objectives

    Candidates will be able to acquire knowledge and skills in

    • IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices for Service Management
    • Application of tools and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements
    • Install, operate and troubleshoot a small to medium-sized network ,including connecting to a WAN and implementing network security
    • Install and configure Windows Server 2012, Implement IPv4, IPv6, Implement Domain Name System ( DNS)
    • Deploy, manage and maintain servers, configure network services and access, configure network policy server infrastructure
    • Configure advanced features for DHCP, DNS and configure Dynamic Access Control, implement an Active Directory Certificate Services
    • Implement server upgrade and migration, design an automated server installation strategy and design a VPN solution
    • Implement public key infrastructure (PKI), manage virtual machine deployment, plan and implement high availability of file services and applications
  • Mode and Duration

    This course is delivered over 9 months. It includes classroom and work-place training/industry attachment.

    This course has the two following modes:

    • Train Only applies to those who are currently working and looking for skills upgradation
    • Place and Train (PnT) applies to those currently un employed and seeking career transition. Candidate will be attached to the industry in the day time while in the evening they gain knowledge by attending classes. Such candidates need to fulfill minimum occupation period of 1 year with the organisation (includes work attachment period)

    NICF - IT Service Management
    This course aims at providing knowledge of the ITIL terminology, structure and basic concepts and has comprehended the core principles of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices for Service Management. This ITIL is the most widely accepted approach to IT service management in the world. ITIL is a best practice framework that has been drawn from both the public and private sectors internationally. It describes how IT resources should be organized to deliver business value, documenting the processes, functions and roles of IT Service Management (ITSM). After completing this course the candidate can appear for ITIL certification
     

    NICF - IT Project Management
    In this course, student will learn project management techniques include identifying project scopes, time management, cost management, communication and resource utilization. This course gives in depth knowledge of the application of tools and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements. Project management is accomplished through the appropriate application and integration of the five process groups such as Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and controlling and Closing. This course deals with these process groups. After completing this the candidate can appear for PMP/CAPM Certification
     

    NICF - Advanced Network
    Students will be provided the knowledge and skills necessary to install, operate and troubleshoot a small to medium-sized network, including connection o a WAN and implementing network security. Upon completing this course candidate will be able to describe networks function, identifying major that make up a VPN solution components and its functions. Configure and verify a CISCO router for WAN Connections with HDLC and PPP encapsulation, PAT, Static routing and describe the components. They also learn configure, verify and troubleshoot OSPF, EIGRP and Frame Relay. After completing this course the candidate can appear for CCNA certification
     

    NICF - Install and Configure Server *
    This course is part one of a three-part series that provides the skills and knowledge necessary to implement a core Windows Server 2012 infrastructure in an existing enterprise environment. In this course candidate will learn to install and configure Windows server 2012, manage AD DS and Active Directory objects. After completing this course students will be able to implement IPv4 and IPv6, Implement Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Implement Domain Name System (DNS)
     

    NICF - Administer  Server *
    The main objective for this course is to configure and maintain core infrastructure services in a Windows Server 2012 enterprise environment. After completing this course, students will be able to Deploy, manage, and maintain servers, Configure file and print services, Configure network services and Access, Configure a network policy server Infrastructure,  Configure and manage Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), Configure and manage Group Policy
     

    NICF - Configure Advanced Server *
    This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to provision advanced services in a Windows Server 2012 enterprise environment. This course will teach you how to configure and manage high availability features, file and storage solutions, and network services in Windows Server 2012. The candidate will also learn about configuring the Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) infrastructure, and implementing backups and disaster recovery.

    * After studying these modules, the candidate can appear for the Microsoft Certified Solution Associate Certification (MCSA)
     

  • Delivery Schedule and Method

    Students will be trained by industry professionals and academicians. They have minimum 5 years of domain experience in consulting or in academic teaching, research within a specific industry. Trainers must also have relevant industry certification and ACTA.

    Trainer-Student ratio is maintained at 1:60 for theory and 1: 30 for practical

  • Entry Requirements

    Candidates with the following may apply:

    • Bachelor degree and IELTS 6.5. Candidates who have been taught at Bachelor level with English as medium of instruction may not need IELTS score
    • Diploma and minimum 5 years of working experience
  • Certificates Issued

    Upon successful completion of all modules candidates will be issued with following SOAs:

    • IT-IS-403S-1             Implement maintenance procedures
    • IT-PM-406S-1           Manage project risk
    • IT-PM-403S-1           Manage project scope
    • IT-NMM-402S-1       Install switches in multi-switched local area networks
    • IT-NMM-401S-1       Install and configure a switch
    • IT-SS-301S-1            Install and configure new hardware and system
    • IT-SS-401S-1            Analyse impact of system patches and updates
    • IT-IS-409S-1             Install and optimise system software

     

    At the end of this course students can pursue for industry certification (need to pay on their own) and attain the following:

    • Microsoft Certified Solution Associate (MCSA)
    • ITIL Foundation Certification 
    • PMP and CAPM Certification
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Graduation Requirements

    Candidates must complete and successfully pass all modules. Student who fail will need to retake the module. An additional charge applies in such cases. For SSG funded candidates, they must successfully pass or deemed Competent (C) in all units.

  • Target Job Roles

    At the end of this course candidates will be able to assume following position:

    • IT Server Administrator
    • IT Project Manager

    This programme is available to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (local trainees) only.Individuals are eligible for 70% SSG grant on the course fee. Additional funding is eligible based on the categories defined below:

     

    For Company Sponsored

    Companies can sponsor their staff for training in order to upgrade their skills and to enhance productivity. The table below defines the funding eligibility based on the type of the company. Companies can participate in Professional Conversion Programme to recruit new staff and then send for training (i.e Place & Train). Under this programme, approved companies can be eligible for training allowances grant (i.e salary funding) for the duration of the course. For details, please refer to the SSG website.
