Course Structure

NICF - Server Infrastructure

This course is intended for information technology professionals who have good Windows operating system knowledge and experience, and want to excel in core infrastructure services in an existing Windows Server 2012 environment.

 

This course primarily covers the Designing and Implementing a Server Infrastructure. It provides the skills and knowledge needed to plan, design, and deploy a physical and logical Windows Server with Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) infrastructure.

 

This modular course also covers the Implementing an Advanced Server Infrastructure. It provides the skills and knowledge to manage enterprise data centre, plan and implement a server virtualization strategy using system centre, network and storage for virtualization, and server monitoring strategy.

 

This course is aligned with Singapore’s SSG WSQ NICF and will completely satisfy the MCSE – Server Infrastructure  Exam (Microsoft MCSE Exams 70-413 and 70-414 ) requirements as well as real world Microsoft solution needs.

Session 1: Orientation & Lecture - Live (3 hrs)

The student has to attend a Live Orientation Session conducted at LA campus or go through a recording of the Orientation Session.

After the Orientation, the Lecturer will introduce the module by conducting the lectures on:

  • IU 1: Planning Server Upgrade & Migration
  • IU 2: Planning and Implementing a Server Deployment Strategy

 The Student will PERFORM activities related to IU1 & IU2 in Server Lab environment 

Session 3: Lecture – Live (3 hrs)

The lecturer will deliver lectures & demo  in the class room related to the topics of corresponding IUs :

  • IU 3: Planning and Deploying a Server using Virtual Machine Manager 
  • IU 4: Designing and Implementing an IP Configuration and Address Management Solution

Before session: The Student will engage in e-learning to LEARN IU3 & IU4 (3 hrs)

The Student should complete self-assessments

Student can approach Online Support for any queries or guidance

  • IU 6: Designing and Implementing an Active Directory Domain Services Forest and Domain Infrastructure

By end of this module, the learner should be able to gain the following knowledge:

  • Overview of Operations Manager
  • Overview of Business Continuity Planning
  • Explain storage options available for virtual machines
  • Describe how Operations Manager can be used to monitor physical and virtual servers

By end of this module, the learner should be able to perform the following activities:

  • Plan and implement a server virtualization strategy using System Center 2012
  • Plan and implement the network and storage infrastructure required to deploy a virtualized server infrastructure
  • Plan and deploy virtual machines on Windows Hyper-V®
  • Plan and implement a virtualization administration solution by using System Center 2012
  • Plan and implement an application and a file services infrastructure that is highly available
  • Plan and implement a highly available server infrastructure by using the failover clustering features in Windows Server 2012
