NICF - Install and Configure Server

This module is designed primarily for information technology (IT) professionals who will be responsible for managing storage and compute by using Windows Server 2016, and who need to understand the scenarios, requirements, and storage and compute options that are available and applicable to Windows Server 2016.  

This module is part of the WSQ Qualification Course NICF Diploma in IT Services (System Support). This module can be offered as part of the above Qualification or independently as Modular Course.

The secondary audience for this course is IT professionals looking to take the Microsoft 70-740 certification exam, Installation, Storage and Compute with Windows Server 2016.

This module contains 12 instructional units and is delivered in blended mode. The learning journey is described in the session plan. The learner shall perform e-learning and lab exercises for each of the Instructional Units with online support from the Tutors. Subsequently, the learner shall perform a modular project with the guidance of an Industry expert who play the role of Project Tutor.

Session Outline Activities

Session 1: e-Learning 1 (3 hrs)

Before starting the first e-learning session, the learner shall attend Course and Module Orientation Session conducted by the Instructor. In this session, the Learner will go through the e-content on LMS and attempt the MCQ tests for the following instructional units:

IU 1: Installing, upgrading, and migrating servers and workloads

  • Introducing Windows Server 2016
  • Preparing and installing Nano Server and Server Core
  • Preparing for upgrades and migrations
  • Migrating server roles and workloads
  • Windows Server activation models

IU 2: Configuring local storage.

  • Managing disks in Windows Server
  • Managing volumes in Windows Server

Session 2:Assignment 1 (3 hrs)

The Learner shall PERFORM the following Assignments immediately after e-learning:
IU 1: Installing, upgrading, and migrating servers and workloads

  • Installing Nano Server
  • Completing post-installation tasks on Nano
  • Performing remote management

IU 2: Configuring local storage.

Session 3: Flipped Class 1 (3 hrs)

Learners must attend the Flipped Class Sessions in which Complex topics and Assignments are explained in Live Sessions using the Slide Decks or Assignment Statements for IU1, IU2, IU3, and IU4
