Information Technology (IT) makes businesses work efficiently. Guess who maintains the IT systems of companies – large and small? IT Network and Systems Administrators!

They are the ones who make sure all PCs and computer programs are working and interconnected.

This course is for those who want to become IT System Engineers/Administrators.

    This course provides students an understanding of system networks, servers, operating systems, and how to support IT infrastructures and customer service skills to handle service requests in a professional manner. This course is suitable for those who would like to enter the IT industry. At the end of this course, students will be able to take certification programs in CompTia Network+ and Enterprise Desktop Technician as Microsoft Certified IT Professional.

    Students, upon completion of the course, should be able to assume systems administration job roles:

  • Program Objectives

    Students will gain knowledge and skills to:

    • Manage, maintain, troubleshoot, install, operate and configure basic network infrastructure. Students will also learn Network specific security practices, disaster recovery procedures, data storage technology implementation
    • Understand fundamentals of networking, security, and server administration with Windows Server 2012 R2
    • Install, upgrade, and migrate to Windows 8.1 client. Students will also learn to configure Windows 8.1 client for network connectivity, security, maintenance, and mobile computing
    • Support Windows 8.1 operating system and solve technical troubleshooting problems in a Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 networking environment. Students will be able to use troubleshooting methodology and assume role of Enterprise Desktop Support Technician (EDST).
    • Provide customer service to support IT functions of an enterprise

    This course is delivered in a modular format and upon completion of all modules successfully, Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded.

    Students to be offered career assistance during their training, will be chosen by their trainer and career service consultant based on their performance and employability skills. Lithan Hall Academy will endeavor to provide deserving students the opportunity to present their CVs to prospective employers.

    Trainer-Student ratio is maintained at 1:60 for theory and 1: 30 for practical.

  • Entry Requirements

    Following are the requirements

    • Passed the entrance test
    • Have a minimum NITEC or A level or O/N level qualification

       

  • Entrance Test

    Students interested in this course need to pass the entrance test that includes:

    Online assessment test (includes a range of multiple choice, close ended questions etc)
    Interview conducted to measure the soft skills of the student

  • Certificates Issued

    Upon successful completion of all modules, students will be issued the following SOAs:

    • IT-NMM-301S-1 Deploy enterprise network
    • IT-SM-301S-1 Perform on-going monitoring of risks, threats, vulnerabilities and effective controls
    • IT-IS-310S-1 Build and configure a server
    • IT-IS-312S-1 Install software to networked computers
    • IT-IS-313S-1 Provide system administration
    • IT-IS-305S-1 Locate equipment, system and software faults
    • IT-IS-306S-1 Maintain equipment and software in working order
    • IT-IS-302S-1 Provide support and assistance to users relating to a particular product or service
    • IT-IS-301S-1 Provide first-level support

    At the end of this course, students may seek to pass the following industry certification exams:

    • CompTIA Network+
    • MCSA: Configuring Windows 8.1, Exam 70-687
    • MCSA: Supporting Windows 8.1, Exam 70-688
  • Graduation Requirements

    Students must complete and successfully pass all modules. Students who fail will need to take the module again. An additional charge applies in such cases. For SSG, student must successfully pass or deemed Competent (C) in all units

    For Company-sponsored Students

    To encourage more Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to send their workers for skills upgrading and to enhance productivity, the Government will be increasing the funding subsidy for this group. The Enhanced Training Support for SMEs will help SMEs further lower the cost of sending their employees for certifiable training programmes supported by the SkillsFuture Singapore Agency (SSG), and academic Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes. SMEs will get to enjoy subsidies of 90% of the course fees when they sponsor their employees for the above-mentioned courses as well as claim absentee payroll funding of 80% of basic hourly salary at a higher cap of $7.50 per hour. This three-year initiative will take effect from 1 July 2012.
